Prosecutor: Jersey City man arrested for October murder of his girlfriend

A Jersey City man was arrested early this morning for the October murder of his girlfriend, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.By John Heinis/Hudson County View

Shortly before 6:30 a.m. this morning, by members of the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task
Force and the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Gang/Violent Crimes Unit.

Diamond Davila, 27, was killed in her Jersey City apartment in October.

Tyquan Baisden, 25, was arrested on Summerfield Avenue in Asbury Park without incident.

He has been charged with murder, unlawful, possession of a weapon (cord), and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Baisden will be housed at the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny pending his first appearance.

On October 19th, at approximately 2:30 p.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department
responded to a report of a deceased woman at 131 Woodlawn Avenue.

Responding officers found a lifeless woman at that location. The woman, later identified as Davila, was pronounced dead at 3:08 p.m.

The Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be homicidal violence and the manner of death to be homicide.

Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit with the assistance of the Jersey City Police Department for the investigation.
