This morning at approximately 12:20 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a collision in the area of Martin Luther King Drive and Wilkinson Avenue, Suarez said in a statement.

Responding officers located two victims, later identified as a 36-year-old man of East Orange and a 26-year-old woman of Newark, with serious injuries. The victims were occupying a moped at the time of the collision.

The second vehicle did not remain at the scene. Both victims were transported to Jersey City Medical Center where they are being treated for their injuries. During the preliminary investigation, the second vehicle was identified and recovered.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this matter.
