Rey Rosario, 66, of Bayonne, is charged with knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle collision resulting in serious bodily injury and endangering an injured victim, Suarez said in a statement.

He was arrested on Monmouth Street in Jersey City and released pending his first court appearance.

On Friday, February 10th, 2023, at approximately 7:45 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck in the area of Communipaw Avenue and John F. Kennedy Boulevard.

Responding officers located a victim – later identified as a 39-year-old Jersey City woman – with multiple injuries and determined that the striking vehicle did not remain at the scene.

The victim was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center with serious injuries, authorities said.
