A 25-year-old Bayonne man is in critical condition after a hit-and-run on Route 440 near the intersection of 22nd Street early Sunday morning, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Yesterday at approximately 12:20 a.m., the Bayonne Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck in the area of Route 440 and 22nd Street, Suarez said in a statement.
Responding officers located a male victim, later identified as a 25-year-old Bayonne resident, with life-threatening injuries. The striking vehicle did not remain at the scene. The man was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.
This matter is actively being investigated by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit with assistance from the Bayonne Police Department.
