On Monday, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit arrested Ishmeal Coleman, 41, of Jersey City, in the area of Van Horne Street, in connection with the death of Takeela Wilson, 38, also of Jersey City, Suarez said in a statement.

He was arrested without incident.

Coleman has been charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, authorities said.

Coleman had his first appearance on these charges in Criminal Justice Reform Court in the
Hudson County Administration Building in Jersey City on Tuesday, at which time a motion for detention was filed by the state, officials said.

The motion is scheduled to be heard later today.

In addition to the Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit, Suarez credited the Jersey City Police Department for assisting in the arrest.

On August 12th, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Jersey City police responded to a report of an

Upon arrival, responding officers found an unresponsive female victim identified as Wilson, who lived at that address. Wilson suffered an apparent stab wound to her torso and was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 4:35 p.m., authorities said.

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be a stab wound of the chest and the manner of death to be Homicide.
