Prosecutor: 22-year-old Willingboro man charged in fatal Hoboken shooting

A 22-year-old Willingboro man has been charged in a fatal shooting in Hoboken earlier this month that claimed the life of a 26-year-old man from the same township, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Tahjae McDougald, 22, of Willingboro, was arrested at approximately 6:30 p.m. yesterday at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City when he turned himself in with his attorney, Suarez said in a statement

McDougald has been charged with murder, possession of a weapon (firearm) for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

On Friday, August 7th just after 10:30 p.m., members of the Hoboken Police Department
responded to an apartment at 300 Grand St. on a report of a deceased male.

Responding officers found the victim, a 26-year-old Willingboro man, later identified as
Marquise Davis, with apparent gunshot wound(s) to the upper body. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting at 10:52 p.m.

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be gunshot wounds to the abdomen and the manner of death to be homicide.

Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit, the Hoboken
Police Department, the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, the Willingboro Police Department, the Pemberton Police Department, the Westampton Police Department, and the Philadelphia Police Department for the investigation and arrest.
