“This is a grassroots campaign from day one. I’m looking around and seeing neighbors from all over town. Small dollar contributions to get Hoboken moving in the right direction. Ruben’s coalition is growing and I’m glad to be a part of it,” Presinzano said in a statement.

“The amazing support we’ve received since launching this campaign is a testament to the excitement of folks in Hoboken as we begin this journey together. The campaign is built on our strength as a team. I’m honored to have this awesome support from residents throughout our city who believe that we need a mayor who will get us back to basics and solve the problems facing our community,” Ramos added.

Among the approximately 140 attendees who joined Ramos and Presinzano were Assemblywoman Jessica Ramirez (D-32) and Ward D Councilman Yousef Saleh, her running mate in the June 10th primary.

Also in attendance was Hudson County Building and Construction Trades Council President Pat Kelleher and IBEW Local 164 Business Manager Daniel Gumble, along with political operative Joey Muniz.

Ramos is running in a field of five in the non-partisan November 4th contest to succeed Mayor Ravi Bhalla, who is seeking an LD-32 Assembly seat instead of a third term.

The field also included 2nd Ward Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher, 3rd Ward Councilman Mike Russo, Councilwoman-at-Large Emily Jabbour, and former U.S. Treasury official Dini Ajmani.

In his formal announcement on February 21st, Ramos pledged to get city government back to basics and focus on critical needs like public safety, quality of life, programs for seniors and children, and housing affordability, as HCV first reported.

A former three-term state assemblyman who has also served as a councilman-at-large, Ramos has represented the 4th Ward since 2015, getting re-elected in 2019 and 2023.

“Our leaders have been distracted by pie-in-the-sky projects, and at the same time some of our infrastructure is crumbling. Maintaining a pier isn’t sexy, but that’s what back to the basics is all about. Not skipping over the nitty gritty work to go straight to the ribbon cutting,” he added.

  2. How can one say This is a grassroots campaign from day one, when you have in attendance the disgraced wannabe political operative Joey Muniz? Corruption at its best. Have you not all seen the Stack ads reminding the voters of the LIES from the Sacco political machine?

John– the way you spin your articles has you as HC’s Courier of Corruption

    • Feel free to get mad about what Paul said 8 days ago, but his opinion has nothing to do with me. That nickname is pretty clever though, kudos on that.
