“I am honored to stand alongside Joyce Watterman and the Joyce for JC team. This is an opportunity to bring my passion for helping others into public service on a larger scale. I look forward to working with our community to build a brighter future for every resident of Jersey City,” Weaver-Henry said in a statement.

She will be running alongside former board of education candidate Kenny Reyes and Liberty Church JC pastor Dave Carment, replacing 2021 mayoral candidate Lewis Spears, who dropped out of the race within three months to focus on his nonprofit work.

Weaver-Henry is also the Angels Care Home Healthcare CEO, New Jersey’s first Christian-based home care agency, and received the Police Chaplain of the Year award from New Jersey Attorney General’s Office in 2023.

“I am thrilled to welcome Reverend Tami Weaver-Henry to our team,” began Watterman.

“Her unwavering commitment to service, her leadership in advocating for women and families, and her passion for creating positive change make her an incredible addition to our slate. Together, we will continue working toward a more inclusive and prosperous Jersey City.”

The non-partisan November 4th municipal elections already boasts five mayoral candidates, with Watterman running against former Gov. Jim McGreevey, Hudson County Commissioner Bill O’Dea (D-2), former Board of Education President Mussab Ali, and Ward E Councilman James Solomon.

O’Dea also has his full at-large team: Councilman Danny Rivera, lifelong educator Kristen Zadroga Hart, and activist Saundra Robinson Green, while Solomon has announced two at-large running mates – Mamta Singh and Michael Griffin – and McGreevey has unveiled one: Art House Executive Director Meredith Burns.
