A 77-year-old Bayonne man committed suicide at Dennis P. Collins Park last week by shooting himself, police said.

Thursday at 8:33 a.m., a 77-year-old Caucasian male was found dead at Dennis P. Collins Park from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Police Sgt. Lauren Brattole.
No other information was officially provided by authorities, but sources, who spoke under the condition of anonymity, told Hudson County View that the man shot himself in the park bathroom Thursday morning and was seen entering the facility by at least one park employee.
The firearm he used was not visible and he did not appear suspicious in any way, the source said.
The man’s identity has not yet been disclosed.
