Darius Rivera, 20, of Hoboken, and Dina Elbana, 19, of Union City, were both charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of theft on Monday, according to Police Det. Sgt. Edgardo Cruz.

Around 3:49 a.m. on Tuesday, officers were dispatched to an address on 10th Street after receiving a call of someone trying to break into a car, officials said.

When police arrived, the vehicle was unlocked with the door open and the interior light on, with the interior of the car “appearing to be in disarray,” authorities said.

Canvassing the area, police were able to locate Rivera inside a nearby building, also spotting Elbana attempting to open packages that were taken from a different address, police said.

Both defendants were arrested and processed before being remanded to the Hudson County jail, where Elbana was released on a summons, officials said.
