Jeron R. Ransom, 23, of Bayonne, has been charged with criminal sexual contact, according to Police Capt. Eric Amato.

Ranson was taken into custody at about 5:27 p.m. from the area of the 8th Street Light Rail Station under the authority of a warrant issued for his arrest stemming from an incident reported on April 9th.

On that date at approximately 14:44 p.m., officers responded to the area of 23rd Street and Broadway on a report of a male that had just touched a 21-year-old woman inappropriately.

According to the victim, while riding the Light Rail from 8th Street to 22nd Street, she was confronted by Ranson. Ranson, whom the victim was familiar with, began making advances at her, but was informed that she was not interested.

As the victim exited the train at the 22nd Street station and proceeded to walk westbound on 22nd Street, Ranson followed and persistently continued his advances.

After again being told by the victim that she was not interested, he touched an intimate part of the victim’s body before fleeing. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest for his actions, authorities said.
