A 17-year-old male victim said that while walking in the area of 45th Street and Avenue E around 6:38 p.m. yesterday, an unknown male approached him from behind and demanded the victim’s cellphone, according to Police Lt. Eric Amato.

As the victim turned around to face the man, he saw him put his hand down the front of his pants, in a manner that lead the victim to believe the actor was armed with a handgun, officials said.

The victim fled south on Avenue E as he was being chased. A passing motorist observed the two, stopped his vehicle, and offered assistance to the victim. At that time, the actor
fled west on East 38th Street, authorities said.

The incident remains under investigation.
