Tuesday evening, the Jersey City School Board held its reorganizing meeting, marking the transition into a new year with new leadership at the helm.

Last year was my first year serving as a board member, and it was both an honor and a privilege to serve as president during that time.

As I step down from the presidency, I want to extend my best wishes to the incoming leadership team as they guide us into 2025. Leading the board has been a rewarding yet challenging experience, and I am proud of what we accomplished together.

Over the last few months, many supporters and allies have encouraged me to consider pursuing a state legislative or city council seat.

While I remain undecided about this potential next step, I truly believe my tenure on the board has prepared me well should I choose to embark on that path.

For now, my focus remains on my role as a board member and ensuring that every decision we make is in the best interest of our children and their future.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Dejon Morris
Jersey City Board of Education trustee, 2024 president

This guy is the ultimate grifter. The only thing he cares about is HIS future, not that of Jersey City or its children. What makes him think he deserves a promotion to the City Council or a state legislative seat? An embarrassing year on the school board and a 90 suspension from JCPD? No thank you. We need to get rid of political grifters like him, not further empower them.
