Access to quality healthcare is a human right that should be available to every single resident in New Jersey, without exception.

Here in Hudson County, thanks to a new, steadfast partnership with government and health care providers, we are committed to making this a reality.

This week, alongside elected officials from across the county, Hudson Regional Health is unveiling a new name, brand, and leadership where quality healthcare access is no longer an afterthought.

To the contrary, HRH and Hudson County are jointly committed to investing millions of dollars to revitalize Hudson County’s healthcare system, that – to not mince words – has lost the faith of residents.

When the future of the local hospitals looked bleak following the previous operator’s declaration of bankruptcy, HRH stepped in to rescue the system, with a commitment to restore that trust within our local communities.

Today, we are proud to jointly announce a commitment to revitalizing HRH facilities in Bayonne, Jersey City and Hoboken through a partnership between Hudson County, our local Mayors, and HRH that will lead to millions of dollars invested in capital improvements throughout the system.

These upgrades are critically needed to strengthen and modernize healthcare for the next several decades, and we collectively are committed to ensuring resources are available at all levels of government to help make this a reality.

This renewed partnership is especially critical now as HRH seeks to undertake major upgrades to aging healthcare infrastructure that for many, is a literal lifeline – especially so for our low income and senior populations.

Through this collaboration between our hospital system and government leaders, HRH’s immediate goals are to fund a new, state of the art surgical center in Bayonne, labor and delivery suites in Hoboken, and a new stroke center in Jersey City, among a few of many examples.

Already, multi-million dollar investments have been made into the facilities, vendors and healthcare workers by HRH to bolster services.

Historic pay raises and increased benefits were recently secured for the hospital employees, critical service lines were restored, and nearly 700 new physicians were hired since last November.

These aren’t just patchwork fixes, these represent real, concrete improvements that will substantially bolster care for residents.

These investments represent a historic turnaround for Hudson County, with even more to come in the years ahead.

With a new healthcare system and local and county governments committed to long-lasting partnerships with real investment dollars, we know our communities will benefit for generations to come.
