One North Hudson Regional Fire & Rescue firefighter was injured battling a three-alarm blaze in North Bergen early this morning, with the department fighting flames as well as frigid winter temperatures.Â
Based on a Facebook video posted by local resident Jasson Lozano (embedded above), heavy smoke emanated from the attic of a two-story home located at 801 87th St.
The fire was reported at roughly 1:25 a.m. and fire companies evacuated the building and police and the North Bergen Office of Emergency Management relocated them, according to NHRF&R Chief Frank Montagne said.
The fire chief further stated that the below 20-degree weather and heavy wind made the task that much more difficult.
He concluded that the fire was under control by 3 a.m. and one firefighter was transported to the HackensackUMC Palisades for undisclosed injuries.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, authorities said.
