“We are grateful and proud of these tremendous men and women who are taking on this incredible challenge for the sake of protecting our residents,” Weehawken Mayor/NHRFR Management Committee Chair Richard Turner said in a statement.

“Their courage, dedication, and selflessness embody the spirit of service that makes our community safer and stronger.”

Founded in 1999, NHRFR services Guttenberg, North Bergen, Union City, Weehawken, and West New York.

“This hiring is another testament to the Mayors of the towns that comprise the North Hudson Regional Fire & Rescue Department, who ensure our Fire Department is adequately
staffed to accomplish our task of protecting their communities,” added NHRFR Chief David Donnarumma.

“The support we receive allows the Regional Fire Department to effectively, efficiently, and safely accomplish our Department’s goals and objectives each and every day.”

In addition to Turner, also in attendance was North Bergen Mayor Nick Sacco, as well as a number of NHRFR board members, administrators, officials, and proud family members of the new firefighters.
