The Township of North Bergen honored young wrestlers for their state tournament accomplishments, including three champions, at last week’s board of commissioners meeting.

“Our young athletes continue to make North Bergen proud with their commitment and perseverance,” Mayor Nick Sacco said in a statement.
“These wrestlers have worked incredibly hard to achieve success at the state level, and we are proud to recognize their accomplishments and celebrate everything they have achieved.”
The successful student athletes received individual Certificate of Wrestling Awards in recognition for their medal winning performances at the NJSIAA State Wrestling Tournament.
The athletes honored for their impressive performances are as follows:
Kodrian Recica — 6th Place, 6U 57 lbs
Inaya Patel — 2nd Place, 8U 45 lbs
Amelia E. Mendoza — 3rd Place, 8U 55 lbs
Logan Rabago — 4th Place, 8U 70 lbs
Avery Tavarez — 3rd Place, 10U 70 lbs
Jaylah Tejada — 1st Place, 10U 90 lbs
Luis Rabelo — 1st Place, 12U 85 lbs
Gianni Belluardo — 4th Place, 14U 85 lbs
Ivan Briones — 8th Place, 14U 190 lbs
Katherine Tierney — 1st Place, 14U HWT
