He was sworn in by state Senator (D-32)/Mayor Nick Sacco after being approved by a majority vote from the remaining board members, Bengabsia will finish the remaining year of Rodriguez’s term and then seek to be elected.

“We are thrilled to welcome Hamadi to the Board of Education and confident that he will play a vital role in shaping the future of North Bergen,” North Bergen Superintendent of Schools Dr. George Solter said in a statement.

“His expertise and dedication to our community make him a valuable addition to our team as we continue to ensure that our students receive the highest quality education.”

Bengabsia brings a wealth of experience to his new role, notably in the area of federal and state tax law, accounting, mathematics, and education.

In addition to supervising tax filings for major companies and corporations, he has spent time as an educator in both Morocco and America, and speaks three languages, Arabic, French, and English.

“I am honored to have been selected to serve on the North Bergen School District’s Board of Education,” added Bengabsia.

“I am excited to hit the ground running and begin working with my fellow board members to continue our mission of providing an inclusive and equitable learning environment that meets the diverse needs of all of our students.”
