Esteban Chay-Chay, 40, of Englewood, was charged with DWI, endangering the welfare of a child, and endangering another person, according to Deputy Chief Frank Pelaez.

On Sunday, March 10th, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the area of Ferry Road after receiving reports of a vehicle that had crashed into a concrete wall.

As officers were arriving on the scene, they observed a vehicle with heavy front-end damage, fleeing the area. However, officers were able to catch up to the vehicle and conduct a motor vehicle stop.

Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Chay-Chay was issued numerous summonses for traffic violations, issued his complaint warrant, and then lodged in the Hudson County Correctional Center.

Due to the motor vehicle accident, the child was medically evaluated at the
Palisades Medical Center, after which her mother was able to take custody of her, authorities said.
