“James Solomon understands the importance of affordability for our city’s families and public employees,” Local 245 President Santo Della Monica said in a statement.

“We know James will deliver affordable housing and will stand with labor in our fight for better wages and fairer workplaces. James is the clear choice in this election, and we’re proud to endorse him.”

The municipal employees union backed Hudson County Commissioner Bill O’Dea (D-2) earlier this month, as HCV first reported, but with Solomon and Jim McGreevey making the December 2nd runoff, they are going with the downtown councilman.

“I am grateful for the endorsement of Local 245 as we work to change Jersey City. Together, we will work to make Jersey City a place where everyone can afford to live, work, and thrive,” added Solomon.

“Labor made Jersey City, and I will always stand with labor. On December 2nd, we’re going to win and we’re going to change Jersey City and deliver real affordability.”

As for the CWA, they said they believe in Solomon’s vision for the city.

“James Solomon’s vision is for a Jersey City that works for everyone. His integrity, his grassroots campaign, and his proven record of fighting for working people stand in stark contrast to the establishment politics of his opponent,” noted CWA District 1 Vice President Dennis Trainor.

“CWA District 1 is all-in for James Solomon, and we urge our members who believe in a more affordable, equitable, and accountable city to join us in supporting James Solomon’s campaign for Mayor. Let’s elect a mayor who works for us,” declared CWA Political & Field Director for New Jersey Anna-Marta Visky.
