Sources said that a shooting occurred at 30 Crescent Ave. this afternoon, and as a result, Lincoln High School – located at 60 Crescent Ave. – went on lockdown for about a half hour.

At 3:36 p.m., the Jersey City Anti-Violence Coalition Movement wrote a Facebook post that said “two youth” were shot in the leg at 30 Crescent Ave.

Just a few minutes later, Ward F council candidate Frank “Educational” Gilmore said in his own Facebook post that shots were fired in the area of Crescent and Communipaw Avenues and that “school will be released soon students are in the school safe.”

The lockdown at the high school was then lifted shortly after 4 p.m., sources who spoke under the condition of anonymity told HCV.

The Jersey City Board of Education and Police Department could not be immediately reached for further comment.
