1

In a letter to the editor, re-elected West New York Board of Education Trustee Matthew Cheng wants to thank his friends, family and the community in general for giving him the opportunity to serve on the board for three more years.

Cheng Family

I met Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno at the Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship event at TCNJ a few weeks ago and introduced myself as a fellow elected official on the West New York School Board. She said, that’s great, you don’t just complain about things, you try and change things yourself. Good for you.

Again, I’d like to thank all of my friends and family for their support the past two years. I am so thankful to see my daughter happy, healthy and enjoying Pre-K. Many of you know that she had her second open heart surgery while I was on the Board last summer.

It has not been easy but I will continue to fight for her and for all the families of West New York. It’s a special feeling having people cheer your name at meetings and on Election Day.

And a special thank you to Ron Scheurle, my very dedicated running mate. We were knocking on doors till the end on Election Day. Twice my age and fighting twice as hard. He also had a few more signs than me.

I look forward to serving you for the next three years.

Sincerely,

Matthew Cheng

Cheng daughter
