An IT professional at the Hudson Arts and Science Charter School in Kearny has been charged with exposing himself to two female students under the age of 13, asking them to engage in sexual conduct, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Omer Sogutcu, 36, of Garfield, is charged with two counts of sexual assault by contact and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, Suarez said in a statement.
He was arrested at the charter school’s district office in Fair Lawn and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.
The crimes occurred in October of 2024 at the arts and science middle school, where Sogutcu is employed as an IT professional.
Two female students under the age of 13 reported Sogutcu exposed himself and asked them to engage in sexual conduct.
Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Kearny Police Department with the investigation and arrest.

He then asked me if I wanted to stay, and litterly winked at me. I declined and immediately left. He also touched himself inappropriately in front of me. Another one of my friends named “Amelia Vargas”in 6th grade told me the same person touched himself in front of her. Please punish this predator severely. Thank you

Hello and my name is rebecca I also attend HASCS and I never really went to him before because my chromebook never had issues. I learned about this while i was on someones tiktok story that also attends my school. and i called my group chat ASAP and i put the phone on speaker so my mom can hear because we tell and show each other everything. and we were both shocked and disgusted on how a 36 year old perv would do that to 12 year olds. i will not say any names..but someone that attends HASCS said that he pulled down his paints and said “Can you touch me” and im not sure if he told every girl this but he said “if you dont have the money to fix the chromebook then you could pay another way” iykyk… but i want to make it clear that i was not harmed but this predator in anyway shape or form but i do hope that the victims (who i will not name) are getting help. thank you…
