Jersey City man indicted on murder, sexual assault charges for Lincoln Park homicide

A Jersey City man has been indicted by a grand jury on charges that include felony murder and sexual assault for the murder of a woman who was killed while going out for a jog in Lincoln Park, authorities said.

Earlier today, a Hudson County grand jury returned an indictment against Jorge Rios, 33, of Jersey City, charging him with four counts related to the death of Carolina Cano that
occurred on March 24th, Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement.

The indictment charges Rios with murder, felony murder, aggravated sexual assault and kidnapping.

On March 24th, shortly after 7:30 a.m., the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible body found in Lincoln Park in Jersey City.

Responding Hudson County Sheriff’s Officers found the body of Carolina Cano, 45, of Jersey City in the Lincoln Park lake. She was pronounced dead at approximately 9:30 a.m., officials said.

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be homicidal violence including strangulation and water submersion and the manner of death to be homicide.

On March 31st, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force arrested Rios for the murder of Cano. He is currently being held at the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny.

    If an American citizen illegally enters Canada, then rapes and murders a jogger, they aren’t “of Saskatoon.”
