Jersey City man, 25, charged with manslaughter of woman, 49, who suffered head trauma and died

A Jersey City man, 25, was charged with manslaughter of a 49-year-old woman who sustained serious neck and head trauma and succumbed to her injuries a few days later.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit has arrested and charged Eugene Williams, of Jersey City, in the death of a Shannon T. Johnson, authorities said.

Williams was arrested at approximately 12:30 p.m. yesterday at 117 Van Nostrand Ave. in Jersey City and has been charged with manslaughter, a second-degree crime.

On Friday, October 1st at approximately 12:54 a.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to 112 Bergen Ave. on a report of an unconscious female on the ground.

Responding officers found an unresponsive female, later identified as Johnson, face down on the sidewalk. The victim was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center where she was listed in critical condition.

On October 7th, at 5:05 p.m., Johnson was pronounced dead. The Regional Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be blunt impact injuries of head and neck and the manner of death to be homicide.
