An 88-year-old Jersey City family medicine doctor has been charged with sexually assaulting a patient, the Jersey City Police Department announced.

Dr. Humberto Perez, 88, of Jersey City, is charged with sexual assault and criminal sexual contact, according to city spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione.
“Dr. Perez was taken into custody after a patient reported allegations of sexual misconduct during a medical consultation … This remains an active investigation,” she added.
“Anyone with information pertaining to Dr. Perez is asked to call the JCPD’s Special Victims Unit 201-547-6505. Calls can be made anonymously.”
No additional information was immediately available, but a handful of Yelp reviews, dating back as far as 2015, did not paint the picture of a professional medical office.
“Warning – This is the worst doctor you will ever interact with. I have no clue how this man hasn’t retired yet. I have a cochlear implant, I am deaf, I rely on this hearing aid to live my daily life and work. I needed a referral to my audiologist so I scheduled an appointment with Dr Perez for a Friday at 6:30 via telemedicine call. He never shows up,” Tiffanie V., a Heights resident, wrote on February 28th, 2022.
“Three days later, the office apologizes and gets me on a call with him – I explain what the call is for, and he completely disregarded my concerns and told me he has no clue what the Cochlear Implant is, and that I needed to do blood work before getting a referral. I was very confused so I tried explaining that I simply needed a referral to see my audiologist, he kept talking over me and said he didn’t want to be liable if anything went wrong, clearly not understanding ANYTHING I said. He then said ‘do blood work, goodbye’ and just hung up on me! I am distraught and In shock at a doctor acting this way. Please for your mental health and physical health, stay away from this man.”
Who on Earth would go to doctor that is 88 years old???
