“David’s love of people is reflected in his people-first policies and working class solidarity. He doesn’t just believe in these things. He’s lived them,” Little said of Guirgis earlier this month.

“David has always stayed true to his roots as a working-class. public school kid from Jersey City and he’s always sought to use his talents in public service to advance progressive policies and ideals. I know he will bring that mindset with him to the Hudson County Board of Commissioners. I am proud today to endorse for County Commissioner, District 4.”

While the D-4 is primarily a Heights-based district, it does include a small portion of downtown, which Little represents.

Further, she is no stranger to this race: She lost to Yraida Aponte-Lipski by about nine-and-a-half points in the 2020 Democratic primary back when the office was still referred to as freeholder and the county line ballot design was still alive and well.

Now, Aponte-Lipski is seeking a third term against Guirgis, which, like in nearly all Hudson County races, will realistically be decided in the primary.

“When you need a fierce, unbought, principled progressive on your side, you call on Eleana Little. We’ve worked for years to underscore the fact that corrupt machine politics will never deliver for working families,” added Guirgis.

“From advocating for Right to Counsel in Jersey City to championing bus rapid transit when it wasn’t popular, Eleana has been on the front lines of the most necessary progressive issues in our city — and I am deeply grateful for her support as we take on the machine and deliver leadership with real political imagination on the board of commissioners.”
