“It is an honor that CarePoint has decided to name this research center after me. I have been dedicated to the people of Hudson County as long as I have been here – both in my career as a physician and as a member of the Jersey City community myself,” Dr. Hemant Shah said in a statement.

“I have high hopes that this center will allow us to continue serving the people of Jersey City, and the surrounding areas, with top-tier levels of medical research and patient care. The Hemant Shah Research Center will continue to make Christ Hospital and CarePoint Health synonymous with community care.”

The Dr. Hemant Shah Research Center’s mission will be to support research at CarePoint Health System, encourage participation in research within the healthcare communities, facilitate mentoring relationships and collaboration between healthcare communities, provide research and grant opportunities, and to support the assimilation of research experiences in the acute care and community setting.

The center will be located within Christ Hospital, located at 176 Palisade Ave.

“Outstanding healthcare facilities are one of the pillars of any great city, and with the leadership here at CarePoint all of the ingredients are present to continue improving Christ Hospital and making it one of the best in the state,” noted Mayor Steven Fulop.

“The healthcare workers of CarePoint have been on the front lines of the war against the global pandemic for more than two years, and the system has distinguished itself as a leader in community-led health care while taking steps to protect Christ Hospital and the entire system as acute care hospitals,” added Assemblyman Raj Mukherji.

Other who attended the event included CarePoint CEO Dr. Achintya Moulick, Council President Joyce Watterman, Ward D Councilman Yousef Saleh, and Christ Hospital Chief Hospital Executive Marie Duffy.

CarePoint Health owns Christ Hospital, the Bayonne Medical Center, and the Hoboken University Medical Center.
