“Frank has always been a true friend to organized labor. For the past 15 years as Sheriff, he’s stood shoulder to shoulder with working-class people and represented us with integrity and consistency,” Hudson County Building Trades President Pat Kelleher said in a statement.

“Frank Schillari is a proven leader. Whether it’s our roads or our parks, he’s out there making a difference. And when the Building Trades call, Frank always picks up the phone,” added IBEW Local 164 Business Agent D.J. Heal.

The building trades backed Schillari for a sixth term in September, as HCV first reported, long before Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis entered the June 10th primary with the backing of the Hudson County Democratic Organization (HCDO).

The incumbent was of course happy to shore up support from the laborers.

“I’m honored to have the support of the Hudson County Building Trades Council. Organized labor is the backbone of our communities, and I’ll always stand with the men and women who build and protect Hudson County every day,” Schillari said.

Schillari, running on Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop’s “Democrats for Change” gubernatorial slate, has the endorsement of seven Hudson County mayors, while Davis has four, along with HCDO Chair/County Executive Craig Guy.

The challenger has also locked up support from four public safety unions in Bayonne, Hudson County Sheriff’s Superiors FOP Lodge 127, and the Jersey City Police Superior Officers Association (PSOA).
