The Hoboken Republican Committee held its reorganization meeting on Monday, where they elected a new executive board, including naming Pavel Sokolov – the executive director of the Hudson County GOP – as chair.

Outgoing GOP Chair Joe Branco nominated Sokolov as his successor as chair, which was quickly followed by a second and a unanimous vote.
“It’s great that we had so many Republicans in Hoboken step up to the plate and run for Committee, with roughly 8,000 votes last presidential election cycle, Republicans in town are energized and ready to make Hoboken and NJ fiscally responsible again!” Sokolov said in a statement.
“Across Hudson County it is my mission to work with all the Republican committee people and grassroots activists to make fundraising events, organize phone banks, and mobilize a door knocking effort the likes of which Hudson County has never seen before!” Branco added.
All the votes for the GOP officers were also uncontested and unanimous – Rachel Castillo as vice chair, Daniel Cillie as treasurer, Matt Fisher as secretary, John DeLorenzo as sergeant-at-arms, and finally Kathy DeRose was elected as events vice chair.
Branco, who presided over the meeting until Sokolov’s election, began the meeting by touting the Hoboken GOP’s efforts during his tenure.
He mentioned efforts ranging from the “hugely successful” golf outing fundraisers he pioneered, leading the battle against the high school tax increase referendum, and organizing Republican dinners and events, among other things.
Not only did Sokolov indicate that Branco will be staying on as an important advisor, but Branco announced that he will be joining the team of Republican gubernatorial nominee Jack Ciattarelli.
Specifically, Branco has been tapped to serve as the Hudson County coordinator for the Ciattarelli campaign in his effort to defeat the Democrat nominee, U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-11), on November 4th.
