“Joyce Watterman is a results-driven leader with a lifelong commitment to public service and equity. Her historic tenure as the first Black woman to serve as Council President in Jersey City is a testament to her dedication and vision,” the PAC said in their endorsement.

“She has spent over a decade breaking barriers and advancing policies that center the needs of working families, underrepresented communities, and the next generation.”

Eboni Taylor, the PAC’s vice president of programs, emphasized Watterman’s proven track record, including lowering property taxes, sponsoring the city’s inclusionary zoning ordinance, championing pay transparency protections for women, and expanding early childhood literacy and workforce development programs.

“Joyce Watterman’s historic achievements and steadfast commitment to equity make her exactly the kind of leader we need in public office. We are proud to stand with her as she continues to make a difference for Jersey City and beyond,” she added.

Their endorsement comes after a similar group, the Collective PAC, came out in support of Watterman.

“I am deeply honored to have the support of Higher Heights for America, an organization that shares my vision for a more just and inclusive Jersey City,” the council president said.

“Together, we will continue to build a city that works for everyone—a city where every resident has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of background or zip code.”

Her opponents include former Gov. Jim McGreevey, Hudson County Commissioner Bill O’Dea (D-2), Ward E Councilman James Solomon, ex-Board of Education President Mussab Ali, and Police Officer Christina Freeman.
