“Mayor Zitt has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to the education and well-being of the children in our community. Under his leadership, Guttenberg has seen continued support for our schools, students, and educators,” GEA President Erin Mooney wrote in a letter to voters.

“He recognizes that a strong public education system is the cornerstone of a thriving community, and he has been a steadfast ally in ensuring that our students have the resources, support, and opportunities they need to succeed. ‘Team Guttenberg’ shares this vision, and together they have worked to prioritize policies that uplift our schools and create a brighter future for all Guttenberg families.”

Zitt, along with Council-at-Large members Monica Fundora, John Habermann, and Richard Delafuente, are running unopposed.

They could face independent challengers ahead of the November 4th general election, but either way, the incumbents appear to be in very safe territory at the moment.

They are part of Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop’s “Democrats for Change” gubernatorial slate, which also includes Hudson County Sheriff Frank Schillari.
