“My name is Edgar Caballeros Iā€™m a soccer coach in Bayonne NJ. Today May 13 I was informed that one of our players was affected by the fire on 15th Street. The house he lived in with his family was burnt down in this horrible fire and completely destroyed everything the owned,” the page description says.

“Thankfully the entire family was able to make it out safely. This fire left this family without any of their personal belongings and basic necessities, so they are in desperate need of assistance. Please consider donating to help this family rebuild their lives and futures.”

The page has set a goal of $5,000 and has secured $980 thus far.

According to Fire Chief Keith Weaver, the fire broke out at 10:20 a.m. and was deemed under control at 11:40 a.m. One person rescued from the third floor was the only injury reported and 17 people were displaced.

“I want to commend all the firefighters who responded and battled this fire,” he added.

“Under hectic conditions they performed a dangerous ladder rescue from approximately 30ā€™ in the air on a ground ladder, then quickly extinguished the large fire, which could have been much worse. I also want to thank our mutual aid partners for their response into Bayonne.ā€
