A GoFundMe page has been set up by a friend of Bryan Rodriguez’s family, a Union City High School student, who along with Noel Herrera, lost their lives when a car jumped the curb and hit them in North Bergen on Saturday night.

“The two boys were both tragically killed last night by an alleged drunk driver on their way home from a friend’s house on 3/5/16 around 9 p.m. The driver lost control of his vehicle and went onto the sidewalk where both boys were walking with another friend,” Enissa Ivonne, the woman who set up the page, writes.

“The tragedy has left both families in an extremely sad predicament, one that no parent should ever have to go through. With the unexpected tragedy and expenses, both families are asking for donations to give both boys a proper memorial and burial.”

The page stresses that no donation is too small and urges those reading “PLEASE DON”T DRINK AND DRIVE, EVER.”

Rodriguez and Herrera were with a third friend, who remains in critical condition at the Jersey City Medical Center and has not been identified yet, when they were all struck by the car near the intersection of John F. Kennedy Boulevard and 26th Street.

Close to 200 friends gathered in front of St. Michael’s Monastery Church in Union City yesterday afternoon to dance, laugh and cry as they remembered the life of Bryan Rodriguez – who was passionate about football and dance.

Rodriguez and Herrera are the second and third deaths in North Hudson in less than a week’s time as the result of erratic driving.

West New York’s Sheyla Pichardo was killed one week ago today as she was on her way to school with her mother.

Officials have announced a press conference at North Bergen Town Municipal Chambers, located at 4233 John F. Kennedy Boulevard, today at 1 p.m. to discuss further details surrounding the incident – though it has just recently been revealed that Eric Patterson, 23, of Jersey City, will be charged in the fatal crash.
