General Consulate of El Salvador offers passport services at North Bergen rec center

The General Consulate of El Salvador offers passport services at North Bergen recreation center on Saturday, which saw over 100 residents attend.

“It was great to partner with the Consulate of El Salvador to provide Salvadoran residents DUI and passport services,” state Senator (D-32)/North Bergen Mayor Nick Sacco wrote on Facebook yesterday.

“Over a hundred residents benefited from this mobile consulate at the Downtown Recreation Center & Library. Special thanks to the General Consul Ariel Valle, Vice Consul Karen Perez and Consul Miguel Barrientos.”

The event was held at the new downtown recreation center and library, located at 1231 John F. Kennedy Boulevard, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Assemblyman Pedro Mejia (D-32) was one of several other officials who were present.

While property taxes go up and street meters charge you until 11:00 at night, the local government is spending your money hosting the El Salvador consulate so that Salvadoran residents can get Salvadoran government ID and “passport services”? Ask yourself why they were here WITHOUT government ID or passports. The foreign governments should be working with local charities, oh wait, that’s also government money too, who we kidding?
