“There really aren’t enough kind words in any language to describe what a great person Julio was. He was truly a humble soul. He will be missed terribly,” the page description on Fund the First says.

“He loved his job with the North Bergen Police Department and was very passionate about it. Our loss of Julio will leave a large hole in our hearts.”

Noriega, 28, who was sworn in back in January 2019, crashed into a garbage truck at 7:03 a.m. this morning and died from his injuries, as HCV first reported.

Noriega was a communications officer for the North Bergen PD between 2015 and 2019 before graduating the Bergen County Police Academy and being assigned to the patrol division.

The page, started by North Bergen Policemen’s Benevolent Association President James Vangelakos, set a goal of $50,000 and has already raised $11,245 from 81 donors as of 9:05 p.m. this evening.
