“As a consequence of legislation I prime-sponsored launching a regulated and taxed sports betting market in NJ, @fanduel is bringing 400 jobs to Jersey City (out of nearly 2,000 in the industry now in JC) and today opened its offices here,” state Senator Raj Mukherji (D-32) wrote on Instagram.
“Last year, NJ saw nearly $13 billion in betting and over $1 billion in revenue. We’ve created jobs, moved this commerce out of the black market, and helped those with gambling addiction come out of the shadows. An economic and social win for the state (not to mention the municipal payroll tax revenue to help offset our local property taxes). FanDuel, welcome to Jersey City!”
New Jersey has been a home for FanDuel since 2016 and also has a location at the Meadowlands racetrack in East Rutherford.
Others who attended the ceremony included Sports at FanDuel President Mike Raffensperger, FanDuel CEO Andy Giancamilli, Hudson County Chamber of Commerce President Emory Edwards, Jersey City Ward B Councilwoman Mira Prinz-Arey, and Jersey City Ward E Councilman James Solomon.
