Former Gov. Jim McGreevey raised $915,179.33 between his individual and team account for Jersey City mayor, with $2,007,756.79 cash on hand, his January 14th reports filed with the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission (NJ ELEC) show.

Team McGreevey raised $739,384.60 between April 1st and June 30th of this year, spending just $16,358.40 with $1,661,164.39 cash on hand, their January 14th ELEC report says.
Philadelphia’s Greater NJ Carpenters PEC gave a mammoth $155,700, the Mason Tenders District Council, the Jersey City’s Rocarn Corp., Ridgewood’s Stro Realty Inc., and Surgicore Management New York each contributed $49,500.
Real Estate Partners’ Greg Russo gave $40,000, and the International Longshoremen’s Association Committee on Political Education chipped in $25,000, as did Ironstate President David Barry.
Parsippany-based All Green Building Services Inc. gave $20,000, Union City Board of Education employee Helen Brzozowski donated $17,000, and the Amalgamated Trade Union wrote a check for $10,000.
Hoboken-based JDA Development owner Joseph Dellaquila, Union City-based RBS Property Management LLC’s Steven Caraccio, Hackensack’s Boswell Engineering, Foundations Risk Partners’ John Graham, and attorney Carmine Alampi all gave $10,000 each.
Additionally, Scarinci and Hollenbeck law partner Ken Hollenbeck contributed $17,500, Carteret Mayor Daniel Reiman donated $5,000, and Waters McPherson McNeill PC partner Mark McPherson got involved at $12,900.
The Washington, D.C.-based New Jersey for All Political Action Committee donated $10,000, as did Flemington’s Reivax Contracting Corp.
The team account spent $6,000 on Pompton Lakes’ Taxed fo Time for compliance and accounting services, and then $10,358.40 for billboard and signs from Easy Signs Inc.
Individually, McGreevey raised $175,794.73, spent $802,783.69, and has $346,592.40 cash on hand, his January 14th ELEC report shows.
Boraie Development Vice President Hiam Boraie contributed $5,500, as did Hudson County Executive Craig Guy.
Furthermore, Curtis Bashaw, the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate last year, donated $5,000, the same amount given by Sharon Elghanayan-Corzine – ex-Gov. Jon Corzine’s (D) wife.
Boston Provident LP Founder Orin Kramer gave $5,500, former Jersey City Corporation Counsel Bill Matsikoudis donated $3,910, the Ringside Lounge contributed $3,550, and Florio Perrucci Steinhardt Cappelli & Tipton partner Christian Perucci got involved at $3,500.
A managing partner at that firm, Brian Tipton, also donated $3,500.
As far as expenditures go, Princeton’s Robert Lapinski was paid a total of $34,000 for political consulting, David Cruz’s JEM JC Consulting LLC received $25,000, and Ray Ferraioli’s H&P Consulting was paid $24,000 for his fundraising efforts.
Beyond consulting, Fairfield-based Outfront Media received $299,590 for billboards and lawn sings, West New York’s Royal Printing was compensated $236,743.58 for mail printing and postage, New York-based Opiniones Latinas netted $60,782 for research and polling, while Hackensack’s Texting for Less was paid $27,500 for telemarketing and robocalls.
Overall, McGreevey has raised $4,053,048.92 to date since announced his bid for mayor in November 2023.
This year’s non-partisan November 4th contest has five other candidates declared to succeed incumbent Steven Fulop, who unsuccessfully ran for governor instead of seeking a fourth term.
The other candidates are Hudson County Commissioner Bill O’Dea (D-2), Council President Joyce Watterman, Ward E Councilman James Solomon, former Board of Education President Mussab Ali, and Police Officer Christina Freeman.
Second quarter ELEC reports are due by the end of the business day and no other reports were available as of Tuesday morning.
This is gross and disgusting. Stack via McGreevey is working to buy Jersey City and distribute its contracts as it sees fit. All these big money donors expect return on their business investment. Democracy is being distorted. This is what oligarchy rather than democracy looks like. McGreevey and Stack need to stay out of JC. The Brennan Bhalla victory shows that you can be radically outspent, and still win.
McGreevey in JC, Cuomo in NYC. Why is anyone even considering these disgraced retreads?
They had their chances.
They abused their power.
And they resigned.
Can’t speak for NYC because they did elect that moron Adams, but Jersey City can, and must, do better.
