Bayonne police break up drug deal, seize cocaine, heroin, prescription drugs, and $1,501

During the course of an investigation, Bayonne police broke up a drug deal and seized cocaine, heroin, prescription drugs, and $1,501 cash, authorities said.

William J. Kenny and Jovan V. Taylor, both 25 and of Jersey City, were each charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance – prescription legend drugs – according to Police Capt. Eric Amato.

Taylor is also charged with possession of PLD with the intent to distribute, possession of PLD, cocaine, and heroin, possession of CDS with the intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of CDS with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of public housing, and possession of narcotic paraphernalia with the intent to distribute.

Kenny and Taylor were taken into custody at about 5:02 p.m. Friday from the area of West 21st Street for narcotic violations.

After receiving numerous quality of life complaints in the area of 18th-19th Street involving narcotic activity, Bayonne Police Narcotics Detectives initiated an investigation into the matter.

During the investigation, detectives learned that two men, one of whom was identified as Kenny, were involved in distribution of narcotics.

During the investigation, detectives observed numerous transactions where a buyer’s vehicle would double park in the area and the actors would retrieve narcotics for the sale from parked vehicles in the area used to stash the narcotics.

On this date, they observed a vehicle approach the area and double park. Kenny and another man then approach the vehicle and spoke to the driver, later identified as Taylor, before retrieving narcotics from a parked vehicle.

The three then drove away in Taylor’s vehicle which was ultimately stopped by detectives after observing a motor vehicle violation.

During the vehicle stop, detectives observed, in plain view, a digital scale containing white powdery residue and narcotic paraphernalia used to package narcotics.

As the investigation progressed, detectives were able to recover cocaine, heroin, 38 pills of a prescription legend drug (PLD), and $1501 cash in suspected narcotic distribution proceeds from Taylor.

Detectives were also able to recover 11 pills of a PLD from Kenny.

During the arrest process, it was also learned that an arrest warrant for Kenny was issued out of Ocean County for charges involving a firearm. He was additionally processed on this warrant.

The vehicle used to stash the narcotics was also taken into the custody of the police department for further investigation, police said.
