“Taken together, these infusions of needed funding provide a significant boost to the residents of Hoboken and Jersey City and are investments in forging a bright future … By providing legal representation to tenants in Jersey City, we are addressing a fundamental need for justice and fairness in housing,” Allen said in a statement.

” … In Hoboken, the enhancements to our schools, library, and Stevens Institute of Technology—a premier university renowned for its cutting-edge research and innovation—will enrich the community. These improvements will provide students with state-of-the-art learning environments and offer residents greater access to knowledge and resources.”

The largest allocation for the Jersey City portion of the district went to Liberty Science Center, which received $9,876,000 in state dollars, while the largest Hoboken beneficiary from the state was Stevens – who secured a total of $7.5 million.

The new Hudson County Courthouse project received $2 million, the Hudson County Schools of Technology netted $1.5 million, followed by $1 million for the Hudson County Department of Corrections.

Additionally, the North Hudson Sewerage Authority has another half million dollars coming their way, with $400,000 a piece for the Jersey City right-to-counsel initiative and the Venus Xtravaganza House.

Finally, the Hoboken Board of Education and Hoboken Public Library each received $250,000.

“We are deeply grateful to the Office of Assemblyman John Allen and his team for their hard work in securing much needed funds for Hoboken Public Library,” noted Hoboken Public Library Director Jennie Pu.

“This investment in our public institution is recognition of our work as an award-winning, urban library and our role as a community anchor. The funds will enable us to continue to update and innovate our spaces, services and programs to serve the lifelong needs of all in our community.”
