The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force is investigating a Jersey City fire that badly injured a 61-year-old woman yesterday morning, Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Shortly after 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, the Jersey City Fire Department received a report of a fire at 81 Wade St. Responding firefighters found a fire in the first floor apartment of the residential building, Suarez said in a statement.
An unresponsive 61-year-old woman was located with serious injuries. She was transported by EMS to the Jersey City Medical Center for treatment, where she remains in critical but stable condition.
The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation by the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Jersey City Fire Department.
