Rasheed Siyam, 27, is charged with theft by deception (false impression), a third-degree crime, Mello said in a statement.

He was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City and released pending his first court appearance, which is tentatively scheduled for Monday, September 29th.

Siyam was one of 10 new officers sworn in at a December 2023 ceremony after serving as a special law enforcement officer (SLEO).

He is also one of five North Bergen police officers who accused Chief Robert Farley of committing “absolutely disgusting” acts via a tort claim filed back in March.

The following month, theNorth Bergen police union that represents the ranking officers, as well as two township officials, came out in support of Farley, as HCV first reported.
