Two more COVID-19-related deaths have been recorded in Hudson County, with their 12 municipalities combining for 234 patients overall, according to the New Jersey Department of Health.

“Today we are also announcing 846 new cases for a total of cases over 3,600 … We remind people who test negative and still have symptoms that it’s important to still stay at home while you’re sick because it might mean that you’ve been infected with another respiratory virus,” NJ DOH Commissioner Judy Persichilli said at a press conference at Rutgers-Newark this afternoon.
“So we’re working around the clock and our Public Health Emergency and Preparedness Response Teams are coordinated throughout government, as well as the healthcare sector, and other public health partners, to respond to the needs of the residents of New Jersey.”
She added that there have now been 44 coronavirus-related deaths across the state since yesterday, up 17 from yesterday – two of whom lived in Hudson County.
Persichilli did not provide any further information about the recently deceased, while a spokeswoman from the NJ DOH did not immediately return an inquiry seeking comment.
There have now been at least four deaths linked to the coronavirus in Hudson County.
As of this writing, the only COVID-19-related fatality to be disclosed by a Hudson County municipality is an 82-year-old cancer patient who died on Saturday, Kearny Mayor Al Santos told HCV yesterday.
We also first reported on a woman in her 80s being the first coronavirus death in Hudson six days ago, though neither the state or any individual municipality has identified where she lived.
The COVID-19 tallies released by each municipality as of 4 p.m. today are 85 in Jersey City, 25 in Hoboken, 34 in North Bergen, 16 in West New York, 14 in Union City, eight in Weehawken, six in Kearny, five in Secaucus, one in Guttenberg, and eight in Bayonne – for a total of 202 cases.
