The event will take place rain or shine beginning at 10 a.m. at 79th Street and Bergenline Avenue, proceeding through the park and along Boulevard East and ending up at Bruins Stadium. Registration begins at the Bruins Stadium parking lot at 8 a.m.

The event benefits the Nicholas J. Sacco Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides social services and charitable donations in North Bergen and the surrounding communities.

Runners of all skill levels will be participating, from professional athletes to health and fitness buffs to those who simply want to have a good time with friends and neighbors while supporting a worthy cause.

Awards will be given to participants in numerous categories and age groups.

USATF-certified courses have been verified for accuracy in order for road running performances to be accepted as a record or be nationally ranked.

Non-runners can participate and help raise funds for charity by walking the course, or simply joining the festive post-race afterparty.

The party in the park kicks off about 11 a.m. with plentiful food, drink, and music.

In its first seven years the Nicholas J. Sacco Foundation 5K Run has raised about $320,000 to help those in need. Activities funded by the foundation included tax services for senior citizens and various scholarships for North Bergen High School students.

In addition, the foundation continues to support local food pantries and several local charities, including the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Check-in and registration on the day of the event will take place from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Commemorative t-shirts will be available free to participants as long as supplies last. For more information, click here.
