2 men assault 3 Guttenberg police officers responding to bar fight, authorities say

Two men assaulted three Guttenberg police officers who were responding to a large bar fight early this morning, authorities said.

Yesterday at approximately 1:33 a.m., the Guttenberg Police Department received a call requesting assistance for a large fight at the M Bar and Restaurant, located at 7000 John F. Kennedy Boulevard, according to Police Sgt. Aleksandar Ramadanovic

Officers from the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division immediately responded, and once on scene, observed a group of individuals in a heated verbal argument with the establishment’s staff.

As police officers attempted to intervene between the two groups, two individuals began assaulting the first three Guttenberg police officers who initially arrived on scene.

Officers from the North Bergen Police Department were requested and assisted our officers needing immediate aid.

During the fight, the Guttenberg Police Department arrested Luis M. Baca-Turcios, 34, of Jersey City, NJ, and Napoleon Anduray-Romero, 29, of Union City.

Baca-Turcios was charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with force, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and failure to make a lawful disposition.

As for Anduray-Romero, he was charged with three counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, three counts of resisting arrest with force, possession of CDS, failure to make a lawful disposition, and disorderly conduct.

They were both transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation and were later transported and lodged in the Hudson County Correctional Center.

Three members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division sustained injuries and they were subsequently transported to a local hospital for medical treatment and later released, police said.
