While the 2027 Democratic primary is still about 11 months away, 10 Hudson County mayors are coming out early in support of County Executive Craig Guy getting a second term.

Union City Mayor Brian Stack, also the state Senator of the 33rd Legislative District, West New York Mayor Albio Sires, Kearny Mayor Carol Jean Doyle, Weehawken Mayor Richard Turner, Bayonne Mayor Sharon Ashe-Nadrowski, Hoboken Mayor Emily Jabbour, Harrison Mayor James Fife, East Newark Mayor Dina Grilo, Guttenberg Mayor Wayne Zitt, and Secaucus Mayor Mike Gonnelli all signed off on the endorsement.
For the time being, Jersey City Mayor James Solomon and North Bergen Mayor Nick Sacco are sitting on the sidelines.
“Craig has followed through on the promises he made when he ran for county executive two years ago, and he has been a guiding force and tremendous partner in providing the resources and vision our cities need to strive,” the 10 mayors said in a joint statement.
“Whether it was his office leaping to action during one of the biggest snowstorms we have seen in years, or his coordinated response to the SNAP crisis to help combat food insecurity during last year’s federal government shutdown, Craig remains a resourceful and reliable partner. We know that working with Craig yields true results, and we will need that level of efficiency if we are going to achieve our shared goals of providing more affordable housing and clean, safe neighborhoods for every county resident.”
Shortly after being elected to a second term as chair of the Hudson County Democratic Organization last month – which he similarly telegraphed with 10 mayors supporting him – Guy announced he would be seeking re-election as county executive.
He then rattled off endorsements from LIUNA, the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters, and Whole Spectrum Autism CEO and Founder Sherry Singh.
Elected to his first time in a landslide in 2023, Guy currently does not have any challengers lined up, nor has anyone even publicly expressed an interest in running just yet.
