Two women have been charged in an October Jersey City hit-and-run that injured four juveniles, Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello announced.

Tamara Tyre, 32, of Jersey City, is charged with five counts of aggravated assault, five counts of endangering an injured victim in violation, five counts of endangering the welfare of a child, five counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (vehicle), three counts of assault by auto resulting in serious bodily injury, knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle collision resulting in serious bodily injury, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose (vehicle), and obstruction, Mello said in a statement.
She was arrested on Monday at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending her first court appearance.
Additionally, Yolanda Tyre, 56, of Jersey City, is charged with false reporting to law enforcement and obstruction.
She was arrested at her residence earlier today and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending her first court appearance.
Shortly after approximately 5 p.m. on October 6th, the Jersey City Police Department was notified of multiple individuals struck by a vehicle on Wilkinson Avenue between Ocean Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
Responding officers located four male juveniles – ages 13, 17, 15, and 17, all of Jersey City – who were struck by a vehicle.
The four juveniles were operating/occupying two motorized vehicles/mopeds when they were struck by a sedan. A fifth juvenile victim was located during the investigation. The striking vehicle did not remain at the scene.
During the course of the investigation, Tamara Tyre was identified as the driver of the Hyundai sedan that struck the juveniles.
Yolanda Tyre was identified as a passenger in the vehicle. Yolanda Tyre falsely provided information to investigators identifying a different individual as the passenger in the vehicle.
Mello credited the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City PD with the investigation and arrests.
