Our slogan, “The Eye of the Community,” is to signify our commitment to making sure the voices of the people are heard. In America, one of the main functions of the press is to keep government open and honest, and that’s what we aim to do in Hudson County.
John Heinis, a Rutgers University alumnus with a bachelor’s degree in communications, began his journalism career working with North Jersey publications Passaic County Pulse and Paterson Press.com. He quickly built a name for himself and began covering Hudson County for The Jersey Journal in late 2011. There, he solidified himself as a hard-hitting reporter by unearthing corruption in North Bergen, Union City, and West New York.
After leaving The Jersey Journal, John began freelancing at Hudson County TV and eventually worked his way up to being the outlet’s Chief Investigative Reporter. As a reporter for Hudson County TV, Heinis gained notoriety in front of the camera as he racked up countless exclusive reports throughout Hudson County, covering federal trials, ELEC violations, elections and various other hard news topics.
John’s ability to ask the tough questions and dig beneath the surface to uncover the bigger story is rivaled by few in Hudson County media.
