“I’m running for mayor because I love this city, and I want to ensure that Hoboken remains a place where families can stay, thrive, and build their futures,” Russo said in a statement.
“We need to continue investing in our infrastructure, expanding affordable housing, and making sure that our community grows in a way that benefits all residents.”
Russo was introduced to the crowd of over 100 people by his daughter, Lia Grace before brief remarks that emphasized his dedication to building a better Hoboken for future generations.
Assemblywoman Jessica Ramirez (D-32), Jersey City Ward D Councilman Yousef Saleh, her running mate, Mayor Ravi Bhalla, who is running for a state Assembly seat in the 32nd Legislative District, Hudson County Board of Commissioners Chair Anthony Romano (D-5), and Board of Education Trustees Sheillah Dallara and Chetali Khanna attended the event.
As the campaign heats up, Russo also pledged to continue engaging with voters through community forums, direct outreach, and policy discussions aimed at ensuring Hoboken remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
The five-person race currently also includes 2nd Ward Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher, 4th Ward Councilman Ruben Ramos, Councilwoman-at-Large Emily Jabbour, and former U.S. Treasury official Dini Ajmani.
