A 50-year-old North Bergen woman is the 15th person arrested for her role in a North Hudson drug ring, Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello announced.

Melissa Brown, 50, of North Bergen, is charged with conspiracy to distribute (cocaine), a second-degree crime, and conspiracy to possess (cocaine), a third-degree crime, Mello said in a statement.
She was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus and transported to Hudson County Correctional Facility pending her first court appearance.
To date, the investigation has resulted in 15 arrests and the seizure of over 4 kilograms of suspected cocaine, two handguns, and more than $70,000 in cash. The street value of the recovered narcotics is over $150,000.
.During the early morning hours of Thursday, July 17th, law enforcement officers from the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office executed search warrants at multiple locations in North Bergen, West New York, and Union City.
During the operation, officers arrested seven individuals – including a dispatcher with the West New York Police Department, a retired West New York police detective, and a Hudson County Corrections officer, as HCV first reported.
Subsequently, the HCPO announced the arrest of six more people in connection to the investigation, including three public employees: Two who work for West New York Town Hall, and one for the West New York Parking Authority.
Then earlier this month, a North Bergen police detective once touted as “a rising star” for the department was charge with one count of conspiracy to possess cocaine, as HCV also first reported.
